Chicago, IL- The Little Village Justice Organization (LVEJO) in partnership with Alderman George Cardenas, from the 12th Ward are proud to announce the 5th annual Skate In the Hood Competition on August 27th, 2011. Skate In the Hood will be hosting Green For the People at this event. Skate In the Hood is a youth led event which was created to support the skating community and promote it as an alternative to gangs. The main purpose of the event is to raise community awareness about the Celotex Site and provide the community with activities for both adults and kids. Community members are pushing the city to move their timeline forward on plans to convert the superfund site into a community park with a skate park, basketball courts and soccer fields.
